Veneers

The first ceramic veneers were already used at the end of the 20th century to improve Hollywood actors’ smiles.

The construction and cementation techniques were primitive and fell out of use in the 80's with the use of new adhesive methods that made ceramic restorations safer and more long-lasting.

These treatments mainly consist in replacing the visible dental enamel portion with a ceramic restoration which is adhesively cemented on the tooth surface. It acquires optical, mechanical and biological characteristics similar to those of natural enamel.

They are particularly used on front teeth whose shape, colour and position need to be modified.

In this case too, an accurate medical examination is necessary to decide whether ceramic veneers are the best aesthetic solution for the patient.
