All-ceramic crowns
When significant modifications are required to improve tooth aesthetics, crowns need to be utilized.
All-ceramic crowns are metal free crowns and they have optical and mechanical properties that are very similar to natural teeth.
Moreover, being metal free allows for a more conservative tooth preparation. The crown margin can be placed on the gingival margin or even slightly supragingival because there is no need to disguise the metal margin.
This procedure limits insults to gingival tissues and it helps maintain oral hygiene and thus periodontal health.
Like veneers, all-ceramic crowns are cement bonded on the tooth’s surface. This adhesive bond reinforces the mechanical resistance of the crowns and reduces the risk of fracture.
